Terms of Service
By purchasing or using Ikigai Explorer, you agree to these terms. They are designed to be fair and to set sensible expectations.
About these terms
These terms apply to your use of Ikigai Explorer (referred to here as "the Service"), provided by Technique Accounting Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company no. 07701567) with registered office at 29 Greenford Gardens, Greenford, contactable at hello@ikigaiexplorer.co.uk. They form a legal agreement between you and us.
The Service
Ikigai Explorer is an AI-guided conversation tool for self-reflection. You answer questions posed by an AI guide, and at the end of the conversation you receive a personalised letter summarising what emerged. The conversation is structured loosely around the Japanese concept of "ikigai" — a reason for being.
The Service is delivered automatically. There is no human interaction with our team during the conversation itself. The questions, pacing, and synthesis approach were shaped by a qualified counsellor (registered with the BACP), but the live conversation is conducted by an AI.
This is not therapy, counselling, or medical advice. The Service is not a substitute for professional mental health care, clinical diagnosis, or treatment. If you are in crisis or need urgent mental health support, please contact your GP, NHS 111, the Samaritans (116 123, free, 24/7), or 999 in an emergency.
Eligibility
You must be 18 years of age or over to use the Service. By using it, you confirm that you are an adult, that you have legal capacity to enter into a contract, and that you are using the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes.
Payment and what you receive
- A single session costs £10 and entitles you to one Ikigai Explorer conversation conducted in a single browser tab, up to the question limit set by the system at the time, plus a personalised synthesis letter at the end.
- If you reach the question limit and wish to keep going, an additional £10 extends your session.
- Sessions expire 7 days from purchase if unused.
- All prices are in GBP and inclusive of any applicable UK taxes.
Cancellation and refunds
Refund availability is governed by our Refund Policy. In summary: once you click Begin and start the conversation, the Service is being delivered and no refund is available except in exceptional circumstances (such as technical failure preventing the conversation).
Because the Service is digital content supplied immediately and consumed during your session, by clicking Begin you expressly agree to begin the Service before the standard 14-day statutory cancellation period expires, and you acknowledge that you lose the right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 once the Service has begun. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not otherwise affected.
Your conversation and the letter
- The contents of your conversation belong to you. You retain all rights to what you say and what you write.
- The letter generated at the end is for your personal use. You may save it, share it with anyone you choose, or discard it.
- We do not store the contents of your conversation on any server. The conversation lives only in your browser tab. If you close the tab without downloading the transcript, the conversation is irretrievable.
- If you choose to share your transcript with the counsellor, you do so directly from your own email client. We are not involved in that communication.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service to impersonate another person or for fraudulent purposes
- Attempt to break, scrape, reverse-engineer, or otherwise interfere with the Service
- Use automated tools to interact with the Service or extract data
- Use the Service to harm or harass yourself or others
- Share your session token or paid session with another person
We may suspend or terminate your access if we reasonably believe these terms have been breached.
Fair use
Each £10 session entitles you to a generous amount of conversation, designed to allow you to explore in depth and reach a meaningful synthesis. The system applies a fair use limit on the number of exchanges in a single session — the number we have chosen is set high enough that most users will not approach it, even in a long and thoughtful conversation.
If you do reach the limit, the Service will offer you three options: wrap up and generate your letter (the usual outcome), extend the session for another £10, or save your transcript and pick up another time. We have designed the system this way so that the cost of the Service remains predictable for both you and us. The limit is there to make sure the system is sustainable, not to rush you.
Intellectual property
The Ikigai Explorer platform — including the brand, design, prompts, code, and content — is owned by us. We grant you a non-exclusive, personal, non-transferable licence to use the Service for the duration of your paid session. You may not copy, modify, redistribute, or commercially exploit the Service.
The conversation and the letter you receive remain your own.
Disclaimer
The AI guide can produce inaccurate, incomplete, or unexpected output. We make no warranty that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or produce any particular outcome. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available".
Nothing the AI says should be relied upon as professional advice — medical, psychological, legal, financial, or otherwise. The Service is intended only for personal reflection.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We exclude liability for any indirect, consequential, or special losses; loss of profits; loss of data; loss of opportunity; and any losses arising from how you act or fail to act on anything that emerges in your conversation.
- Our total aggregate liability to you in respect of the Service is limited to the amount you have paid for that session.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate the Service, or your access to it, at any time if you breach these terms or if we are required to do so by law. Termination does not entitle you to a refund except where required by law or our Refund Policy.
You may stop using the Service at any time. Closing the browser tab ends your live session immediately.
Changes to terms or pricing
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be flagged on the website. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. Pricing changes do not affect sessions already purchased.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
